Blog Comments for SEO Back Links

By Randy The Hermit Baustert

Most of you probably already know that you can boost your search engine rankings by getting back links to your site, but how many of you are using blog comments to get back links?

There are a lot of people out there that will tell you don't bother to use blog comments because all the blogs have no follow tags now and the search engines don't record the links.

There is a trace of truth to this but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't use blog comments to get back links because there are some blogs that don't have the no follow tags on their comments.

The default installation of WordPress automatically adds the no follow tags to the comments but if you know what you are doing you can find blogs that don't have the no follow tag or will remove the no follow tag in return for you making a certain number of posts.

Before I get into what to look for to find blogs without the no follow tag I want to cover comment etiquette.

If you are going to leave a comment on the blog MAKE SURE the comment is relevant to the post.

If the post you are commenting on is about WordPress plugins don't leave a comment about sports fishing. This is common sense but you would be surprise at how many comments like this I delete.

Don't put links in the body of your comment. This is very bad etiquette unless the link is to a resource that expands on your comment. This doesn't mean if you have a site on sports fishing you can put a link to your site in the comment body but if the post is on a new way to string a leader you can put a link to a page (on your site or another) that shows how to do this.

I personally have my comments set up so that if you put links in the body of the comment it will go to moderation and not be posted until I get around to reviewing the links. This might be done quickly or it might take me a week to get to it. Remember, some people never check the comment moderation.

The name field for the comment form should only be filled with your name or moniker and a moniker should only be used if it describes you or your business accurately. Don't stuff the name with keywords if you start doing this you might have some blog masters ban you and put you on the spam lists. You can have keywords in your moniker but only if they apply (as stated above) to you personally or your business but you are always better of using a name that can be used to recognize you.

That is a general overview of blog etiquette but you should never do anything in a blog comment that you wouldn't want done on your blog. Even with the no follow tags you should still be posting comments, I bet you are wondering why?

There are a few reasons why you should leave comments even if there are no follow tags, such as:

1.With or without the no follow tag it is still a link to your site. You can get over 1000 links to your site by leaving 5 comments a day for a year. These links will be seen by 1000's of people that might come to your site.

2.If your comments are on topic and informative people will remember your name and you will become a known expert in the field. This is part of the reason you want to use the same name.

3.If your comment is informative you will also find that a lot of the readers will click on your link to find out more about you.

4.If you are selling advertising on your site through a service like text link ads they sometimes do their own back link research and ignore the no follow tag. This could result in you receiving more income from your ads.

Now how to tell if the comments have the no follow tag applied to them.

One way is to go to the blog and find a post with comments and look at the page source, find the comment and see if it has no follow tag on the link. This is a pain but it works.

The good news is that you don't have to do it that way. If you are using FireFox or Flock as your browser you can get an addon that will highlight all the no follow tags on a page. It is called SEO for FireFox and you can get it from SEOTools.com or you can search SEO for FireFox addon in Google.

This plugin will provide you with a lot of SEO information but it will also highlight any links that have no follow tags in red. If you find a post with comments if the name for the comment is highlighted in red it has no follow tags. Don't worry if you get tired of the red highlights you can turn the plugin off with a click at the bottom of your browser.

There are a couple of plugins that blog masters will add to their blogs that automatically removes the no follow tag from the comments and another plugin that will reward the people that comment frequently by removing the no follow tags from that individuals comments. This plugin is Lucia's Linky Love.

How it works it the owner of the blog can set the plugin so that after so many posts the no follow tag is removed from the comments of that person.

It checks the name and email address to see if this person has ever commented before and keeps track of all the ones that match. If you use different names (which has already been pointed out as a no no) or different emails you will never have the no follow tags removed.

The owner of the site can set the limit from 3 to whatever they feel like but most of the time if they are using the plugin it is set from 3 to 5. This means you will have to leave a relevant comment 3 to 5 times before the no follow tag is removed but when it is removed it is removed from any comments you make from there on.

You might now be wondering how you find blogs that are using Lucia's Linky Love, the easiest way to do this is to go to Google's Blogsearch and search for your keywords in quotes plus Lucia's Linky in quotes (it should look like this "keyword phrase"+"Lucia's Linky" ) and you should find some posts for your keywords that this will apply to.

On my blogs I usually have this set at three and I review the comments on a regular basis any comments that read like pure spam I delete. Because I delete them the spammers never get to the magic number of three and the no follow stays in place. This leads to more comments that are usually more informative.

Crafty Moms: Make Money with a Niche Craft Blog

By Nicole Dean

Are you a crafty person who enjoys making other people happy by creating beautiful things? Do you like sharing how you do this with others? Then an online crafting blog might be perfect for you! Blogs are like online journals and they can be set up easily in minutes via the use of such free applications like Blogger.com or Wordpress. By choosing an adaptable and colorful template, a craft blog can be used to display:

Photographs: Your readers will appreciate a clear picture of the craft idea, from start to finish. When creating something from a recycled object, pictures of the original object are especially of interest to your readers. If you also include step-by-step photos, you'll end up with a very popular blog in no time. Using a good digital camera will help your readers get an idea of how a simple craft can become a treasured object.

Describe the materials: When your readers look at the pictures of your crafts, they want to know exactly what materials they are looking at and where they can buy them. Be specific, using familiar names, even brand names, of the materials, specific colors, sizes, and shapes. The reader can then find the exact items they are looking for at their local craft stores or online. Detailed descriptions of materials used also helps by telling the internet search engines which items you're discussing on your blog. Google.com (tm) will then begin to send people to your blog when people search for items using words you mentioned in your description.

How To: It's always a wonderful idea to include a How To for some of your more popular or intricate crafts. This allows others to learn how they can make their own version of the crafts you have on display, for personal enjoyment or gift-giving. If you have a craft that's uniquely yours, you can even patent it and sell the instructions at a small cost to the reader.

Materials list: When your readers walk into the craft store, they want a complete list of materials to make their shopping easier. You'll want to include all colors, sizes, and measurements in great detail and accuracy. Include where your readers can find the materials needed and any additional descriptions and possible substitutions if needed. Additionally, when people visiting your website duplicate your craft and it turns out great, they are more likely to tell their friends about your blog -- so be sure to explain exactly which items they should purchase and where they can find them.

Selling crafts: One of the best ways to see a return on your time investment with crafting is to offer certain items for sale on your blog. Why not offer custom made or personalized items to your readers? Holidays and birthdays are great times for your readers to purchase your unique, specialized crafts. You can sell them directly on the blog or include a link to outside auction sites like eBay.com or Etsy.com. You can also sell your own craft patterns, advertising space on your website and more.

Taking the time to do crafting takes a lot of time, patience and talent. Blogging about your crafting ideas will help you take your art to the next level, by increasing awareness of your unique crafts. Start now to create a blog, let the rest of the world know about your talents, and make money in the process!

If you answered yes to any of these questions, this is your opportunity to get immediate access to a Cisco Router Basics Tutorial.

"Why would you want to learn the Cisco router? I'll tell you what happened to me... I went from making $8.00 per hour to $30.00 per hour just by getting some basic Cisco Router knowledge!!

Actually, I got pretty lucky... Let me take you back to the early 90's. I had been doing very basic desktop support and some light Windows NT Administration and one day the main Network Engineer of the company I worked for got in a fight with the boss and walked out!

My boss was so desperate, he sent me to a 5 day Introduction to Cisco Routers course. I am so glad this company was willing to drop $2000 for this course, but I admit that is a HUGE price tag to learn the fundamentals of the Cisco Router. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't complaining.

$30.00 per hour in the early to mid 90's was a great starting point. I kept learning and growing and ultimately started my own IT Consulting company. I now charge at least $100 per hour for Cisco Router consulting.

The main point I want to make is this, not everyone has opporunities fall in their lap. I know that. I decided to put together the absolute fundamentals that any person needing to learn the Cisco Router needs into one easy to read package at a very affordable price.

I enjoy helping people learn and grow. I wrote another ebook called PIX/ASA Firewall Keys which has helped catapult many people into greater understanding of the PIX Firewall, and with that comes greater income.

One of the main things I kept hearing from those who read PIX/ASA Firewall Keys was the request to come up with a very basic guide to the Cisco Router, taught in the same down to earth style. So here it is!

This tutorial is going to teach you the foundation that you need to know to make it with the Cisco Router. Once you understand and grasp these concepts you can go on to more advanced routing tutorials.

Of all the comments I get from the readers of my tutorials and ebooks there is one common thing that stands out and this is one that I take great pride in - it is that I break down these concepts in a very simple, down to earth and straightforward way." Simple Steps to Increase Web Profits

By Matthew Henage

Giving Your Visitors What They Want

Far too often webmasters make websites that contain just fluff. Visitors don't come looking for just any random stuff, but usually they have certain things they are looking for, and if they don't find it, they are gone faster than you can say, "Thanks for visiting!"

So how do you appeal to these visitors? The easy answer, "Give them what they want." The more important question you should ask is, "What do my visitors want?" To answer this question, you need to research three imperatives, 1)Who are your visitors? 2)What attracted them to your site originally? 3) What do they want when they come to your site? Once you know who your visitors are, what attracted them and what they are interested in, it becomes very simple to attract and retain them.

You can learn more about your customer in two ways, by just asking them and by installing analytic software like Google Analytics. Both are highly recommended because both provide information that the other cannot. This information is like gold because it becomes a catalyst to providing quality content that keeps your visitors coming back for more.

Attract More Visitors

By catering to your customers needs you'll see an increase in traffic from past visitors returning to your site. But by extending your marketing reach you can compound the number of visitors your site will recieve. In this section we talk about some of the most important traffic building methods used by professionals each day.

If your not using PPC Advertising (Pay Per Click) then your missing out on what could become a website goldmine. With all PPC campaigns it is important to start out with a low budget, to improve your results before you unleash this method. Although there are many services that offer PPC Advertising, we suggest to start with Google Adwords. Not only is Google Adwords one of the most powerful systems, but it also can be connected to Google Analytics for very helpful tracting. By targeting the right traffic you'll be increasing your profits in no time.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is another must in traffic building for those who are serious about maximizing their profits. SEO is a way in which you can have your website ranked higher within search engines, thus creating more traffic to your website. SEO is done in two parts: First, your website must be search engine friendly. Second, there must be other websites linking to your site.

Monetize Your Website

While you want to provide your web traffic with the content that they want, you also need to make it easy for them to make you more money. Does your website make it difficult for your visitors to sign up for a membership or make a purchase? Why? Make it easy for them, and your visitors will respond appropriately.

You can make it difficult for your visitors to make you money in many ways. Give them too many options to nonprofitable actions, making your navigation confusing and cluttering your web pages with random text and graphics. Get your customers attention to a profitable action by using varying degrees of contrast, color and font choice. When in doubt use different approaches on different pages and measure the results.

There are other tactics and tools you can use to increase customer sales as well. Using call to action, branding, A/B or multivariate testing, design improvements and product/service cross promotion can improve your sales many times over.

Do it the Easy and More Profitable Way

If a lot of the concepts discussed in this article seem relatively new to you, honestly, it will be easier and more profitable to turn to a professional to help you out. In choosing an expert partner, make sure they have a marketing background and are focused on building your profits.

How To Write A Perfect Blog Post

By Don Bethune

Traffic is important to any website, be it a business one or a personal blog. If you are a manager of a site then you might have pondered from time to time on the various ways to increase traffic on your site which could be an adult site or for, say Canadian users.

Traffic is important to any website, be it a business one or a personal blog. If you are a manager of a site then you might have pondered from time to time on the various ways to increase traffic on your site which could be an adult site or for, say Canadian users.

The title of your post should have some keywords as the search engines index and retrieve page links by using keywords. The search engines are more likely to find your article by the key words, in the title rather that in the body.

If an article is to be opened by the reader, he needs to be attracted to it by the title first. Search results come up with a huge amount of pages so if the reader isnat impressed by the title, he wonat open the article. The title should be short, simple and sweet. It should be able to convey to the reader, what he might be able to find in the article concerned.

The body of your post should be as attractive as its title and both should be in consistency with each other to make it interesting. It should be the best part of the article. If the body of the post is not interesting then the reader will be let down and not revisit your site and that would be the exact opposite of your goal, i.e. to increase traffic to your site.

One thing to keep in mind while writing a good blog post would be to break it up into at least three parts. One for the introduction one for the conclusion and the rest for the other details. The introduction could contain the context and objective of the article. The body or the details could be an elaboration of the ideas of the post. Each idea should be explained in a different paragraph.

Donat write your post too long. Keep it short and simple. Because some people, such as me, tend to be afraid of long documents. They just wonder whether it is benefit to read all this long document or it will waste their valuable time. If the document is short, they will feel easier with it and be more likely to read it all.

Thus in keeping with my advice in the preceding paragraphs I too will not make this article too long. To enable you to remember all that you have read I will end by stating again what the perfect blog post should have. It should be short and simple have an introduction a conclusion and some details. It should definitely have an interesting and attractive title which should contain keywords and be in keeping with what is in the body.
